Aside from the performance of Nolan Arenado has been a bust to the Colorado Rockies and it isn’t getting better as the season advances.
The Rockies came their way into franchise history by making the worst month in any year when they went 6-19 in July and followed the ignominious stretch by tying a franchise record when the team fell 19 of 28 games.
As the Rockies enter this three-game set from the top team from the National Leaguethey will expect that rookie starter Peter Lambert (2-5, 6.63 ERA, 1.63 WHIP) is able to right the ship following a stretch that’s seen Colorado lose 10 of the final 11 contests.
The 22-year-old newcomer has failed to escape the fifth inning in his previous two appearances, getting struck for nine runs on 14 hits in declines against the Cardinals and Red Sox. Lambert faced the Dodgers in starts, surrendering a joint eight runs in innings of work, in which LA won 12-8 and 5-4.
The Dodgers have hit a few bumps in the street recently but nothing that may remotely derail their odds of winning the division along with probably catching the No. 1 seed at the National League when the playoffs roll around.
Los Angeles has lost five of the eight and avoided becoming trapped by the Diamondbacks from the town when Joc Pederson went lawn at the very top of the 11th inning to give his team a 4-3 extra-innings hit on Sunday.
Walker Buehler (11-3, 3.03 ERA, 1.02 WHIP) will take the bump today for the Dodgers and he’s more than lived up to his lofty billing after being chosen 24th overall at the 2015 draft.
In his second full season in the degree, Buehler threw the complete game of his career back on June 21st against the team he will face and has been appointed an All-Star. Buehler allowed two runs on three hits and struck out 16 in a 4-2 LA success.
But less than a week later the ‘2″ right-hander was tagged for seven runs on 13 hits in five-plus innings by precisely the identical group he stymied only six days before. The Rockies would go on to win that game 12-8 and avenge their loss.
The MLB odds are restrictive on the Dodgers and we can not be surprised. Big Blue has an absolute stud although the Rockies are urgently expecting Peter Lambert will at least pitch his way without too much damage and that a light will turn off.
I really don’t find that happening despite the current hiccups of LA but cannot put north of -300, and that’s what the very best online sportsbooks are currently requesting on the chalky house favorite.
Instead, I will turn knowing LA has won nine of their 10 games by greater two or more runs this season from the Rockies. Let us bet that the Dodgers -1 1/2 runs (-140) within our MLB selections and money that Labor Day ticket!
